I always bring a camera with me, even if I just walk to work. You never know which opportunities arise. – Even if it is just a small compact camera.
One autumn morning when walking to work in the mist this was one of the sights. Taken with a Canon A610 compact, one that only allows JPEG images :

On my trip to China last year we visited the Laoshan temple complex, but on the way I could not resist the rocks – I just had to take this picture. All pictures taken during my trip to China were made with a compact Canon G11 – and given the limitations of compacts I am very happy with the results.

A few years ago I saw this procession in the heart of Copenhagen.
The elephants right there look out of place, so how could I resist ?
The building they are passing in front of is the old Royal Theatre.

At a press conference in Copenhagen that I attended we had a visit from the film maker David Lynch.
I managed to be close enough to get this picture :

Taken with a Canon Powershot Pro 1 – yes, it is that long ago. The camera was fine with enough light, but awful in low light without flash.
This week’s photo was taken through a 200mm mirror telescope (Schmidt-Cassegrain) functioning as a tele objective with my EOS 20D.
A half moon provides a much better photo opportunity than the full moon – the full moon has very little contrast.

The Netherlands is a rather densely populated area, in particular where I live.
Parking problems abound, so how to park your car a bit out of the way ?
During a walk in the centre of The Hague I found this sight :

Oh, the slanting parking in relation to the lines is not that un-common 😉
At a festival in Copenhagen I got to take the picture below rather early in the morning, waiting for sunrise.
The instrument they are playing is called a lur, and they are always played in pairs, as on this picture. The instrument, a simple form of horn, originate in the Bronze age of the Norse culture, and only a few have been found.
If it looks familiar, some of you may have seen it on Danish butter packages (brand mark : “Lurpak”). Also in Copenhagen you can find a statue of Lurblæserne (Lur Blowers). In this case I saw some real life ancient instruments being played.

A trip to the zoo in Copenhagen a few years ago with a group of photographers produced a fair amount of good pictures for me. This is one of them.

I found this rear end of a car “sticking out” from the wall, so took the pic.
At home I found the true irony of it.
Take a look at the “number plate” and then compare with the brand. Yes – I had to laugh.
Low Budget
This week’s photo was taken at the Fedcon in Düsseldorf, Germany in May this year.
A very entertaining actor, he suddenly left the stage and walked among the audience.
When he passed right by me I was quick enough with the camera to catch this picture :

The colours come from the stage lighting, I like the mood of the picture.
As an experiment it may be worth trying to convert this picture to black/white.
